Sandra Tyree

Sandra Tyree has been quilting since she was twelve.  Her mother and grandmother were both quilters and she learned to quilt by sitting next to her mother and observing her.  She said whenever her mother would leave her project for a minute, she would pick up her mother’s project and start quilting.  At first her mother would have to remove Sandra’s stitches, but in time her stitches couldn’t be distinguished from those her mother had done.  Sandra owns a quilt shop in Morgan County, Kentucky and says quilting is her “sanity” time in which she can relax.  She also enjoys cross stitching and bowling.  Sandra is a member of her local quilt guild and she enjoys trying new patterns and techniques.  As a full-time teacher for the local school district, Sandra says her motto is to never be afraid to learn new things.  Sandra and her husband have been married 25 years and have two children.
