Hidden Treasures

We have lots of Hidden Treasures in these Kentucky hills!  Yes, many of them are nature-made, but there are some man-made treasures, too.  Tucked amongst the hills and hollows of eastern Kentucky are some of the most talented artists I’ve known.  Painters, sculptures, woodcarvers, quilters, photographers and the list goes on.

As this is the season that most of us are curled up under quilts every night, I thought I’d focus this blog on Kentucky’s fine quilters.  These quilters bring us beautiful quilts in every size, color combination and technique that you can imagine.  They produce quilts that are machine pieced and long arm quilted; hand pieced and hand quilted and many times a combination of those techniques.  There are quilts large enough to cover your bed and small enough to cover a doll’s bed.  Quilts that are just the right size to snuggle under on the couch and baby quilts that are oh-so-cute, soft and warm! 

There are decorative quilts that are truly amazing masterpieces.  There are “everyday” quilts that are great for just what the name implies - using them for any and every use you want to on a daily basis.  There are runners that create a focal point for your table and pretty wall hangings to brighten any room in your home.  And there are my personal favorites - scrap quilts.  Quilts that by their very name bring to mind days of yesteryear when women used what they had on hand to make the necessities their families needed.

Promises and Possibilities

It’s a New Year - how exciting!!  A time to begin anew.  To resolve to live our lives a bit better than we did last year.  Perhaps to branch out and go in new directions.

Here at Crafter’s Corner, we’re going to be doing just that this year.  Heading in some new directions.  What does that mean for you, our customers?  Plenty!  We’ll be providing a larger inventory with lots of new designers to give you more options to choose from.  For those who sign up for our newsletters, “like” us on Facebook or “follow” us on Twitter, we promise you more posts/tweets so you can follow all that’s happening with the artists featured on the site as well as all the newest needlework items.  We are excited to announce that we plan to begin offering exclusive patterns and kits designed by Crafter’s Corner at some point during this year.  And our biggest news is that all orders with addresses in the domestic U.S. are now shipped free! 

Despite all the “new” directions, there are some things that will remain the same.  First and foremost is why we are here to begin with.  We have two primary purposes.  One is to offer a venue for Kentucky artists to share their amazing handcrafted works of art with all who love and appreciate owning something made from the heart.  And the other reason for our existence is to provide you with the means (kits, patterns, etc.) to craft your own works of art.  We truly love what we do and so enjoy sharing that with you, our customers!

So here’s to this New Year!  Enjoy it!  Albert Einstein is quoted as having said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.  Knowledge is limited.  Imagination encircles the world.”  So bring out your imagination, dust it off and use it to make this year your best ever!
